Let's face it, no one wants to be without power. There is never a good time for an outage! When an unexpected outage happens, the first thing we here at AEC have to do is access the cause of the outage. If the outage is on our transmission providers side (SCE), we have to wait for them to locate and fix the problem. If the problem is on our side, our crew starts the long and complex process of finding the cause. The cause of the outage will determine what needs to be done to restore power. Sometimes, it's a quick fix. Sometimes, finding the cause is not so easy and miles of lines and equipment must be inspected, all while the safety of the crew and our community remains a priority. Bad weather, fire or other elements can slow down the process of finding the cause and of the repairs. Once the cause is found, an estimated time is given for repair. AEC will communicate to our members the estimated time we believe it will take to get the power back on. On a good day, all goes as planned and power is back on when we estimated it to be. Other times, things don't go as smoothly and the restoration can take longer than expected. We can't guarantee that the power will always come on when we expected but we can guarantee that our crew won't stop until it is.
So, in those moments when we are all in the dark, waiting for the comfort of light, know that AEC is doing everything in our power to get it restored. We will communicate to our members through our text messages and on our Facebook page with updates as we receive them. You can also check the outage map right here on our website. We are grateful to our members who are patient as we do everything we can to restore power quickly and safely.
